Jan Janeke matriculates at High School Frikkie Meyer, Thabazimbi in 1978. After two years of National Service, during which he achieves the rank of Lieutenant, he studies BSc. Agric (Animal Science) at the University of Pretoria and graduate in 1984.

During his studies, he works during breaks at a layer-breeder chicken farm, a piggery and a gold mine – Western Deep Levels. He starts his working career in January 1985 at the Egg Board as Chief of Production Control, to honour his bursary contract.

In 1987 he buys himself out of his contract and starts farming on the Springbokvlakte with, to name a few, cotton, tobacco, maize, sunflower, beans, onions, tomatoes and cattle until 1991 when he started at SIS Farming Group as Feedlot Manager.

He moved to Beefcor Feedlot in 1993 as Production Manager until 2001, when he ventured into the pharmaceutical industry as Sales Representative for Phibro Animal Health, until 2007.

From 2008 to 2011, he was involved in two Companies as Co-director, Ace Animal Health and Leanmar Engineering, after which he joined Afrivet Business Management as Sales Agent in SA, Botswana and Namibia.

Jan joined the Animate Animal Health team as Key Accounts Manager for Feedlots and Pigs in 2012.
